June 2022 Weekend

I haven’t posted in a while, so here’s a quick summary of what we did this last weekend.

It’s hay week and it was very hot, so we’ve been getting hay from Delphian at sunset to keep from overheating.

I also helped a friend start digging up his back yard with his excavator, put up a new Star Wars Poster in my shop, and Atley did some amazing art!

Anna ran “Anna Camp” to kick off the summer. She entertained 10 children for 3 weeks! Then, on the hottest day, yet, the families went to the beach for some cool breezes, sun and sand. Archer loved throwing the football, and was amazingly good at getting it to spiral. Atley and his friends dug and played all day long.

Ashton finally got to see Weird Al live! It was amazing. Al is quite the entertainer! His live rendition of Albuquerque alone was worth the price of admission. He played all Ashton’s favorite originals! Bonus for getting to go with friends he don’t get to hang out with enough. Chris H and Matthew H.

It was a great weekend!

Our First Oregon White Christmas

We’ve lived in Sheridan for 3 1/2 years now, and we have finally received our first real snow day! All day through Christmas, it snowed on an off, but nothing stuck. It started snowing in earnest Christmas Night, and there was enough snow on our porch to have a snow fight!

We woke up to 2-3 inches of snow, and it was beautiful!

Ashton finally built a snowman!

Archer rolled a snow ball!

We went out sledding on our pretty steep hill, and our boys loved it. They were win and out all day. The Adens and Robinsons came over throughout the day, and we had a great time.

The Robinsons brought a new board game they got for Christmas and we all got to play.

The Adens brought over the Nintendo Switch (that Jason is selling to Archer and Atley) and the kids played Mario Kart.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas Decorating 2021

it’s starting to look a lot like Christmas!

We decorated our tree tonight. The boys helped, and Chloe joined in as well. The boys were uninterested in spreading the fake write branches, slightly interested in hanging lights, but they loved hanging ornaments.

This is the first Christmas for our two kittens, so we’re a little worried, but it’s been 5 hours now and we haven’t lost an ornament to a cat yet!

On Saturday, Archer helped me get most of the house lights up!

Ashton’s 4th Chicken Coop Build (part 1)

It’s that time again! We’re building a better chicken coop. Last year, I built a smaller A-Frame Chicken coop for our small flock of 6 chickens. We’ve expanded to 14 chickens so we need a much larger coop and run.

The chickens are very detailed inspectors. They’ve visited me every time I’m working on the coop. The grey chicken’s name is Lavender, and she’s amazingly fearless. She laid an egg inside my coop while I was working on it yesterday.
